One busy week

We have had one busy week. We have birthdays every day this week except for the 2nd of January. My grandma is on the 1st, my niece Alexie is on the 3rd, my cousin is on the 4th, Wren my best friend since 3rd grade just had her baby yesterday the 5th, my mom is on the 6th and my only nephew is on the 7th. At least next week will be quiet. Thank Goodness!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. We sure did.

My sister loves taking pictures so we asked her this year if she would take ours. She did a wonderful job. We love all of them. It is hard to choose which ones to hang up in our house.

We went up to the Institute and had some pictures taken. It was a little chilly so we would have the girls take a picture and then put their coats back on.

After freezing our hind ends off we headed to Grandma Kay's house. The girls love it out there because she has chickens.

A couple weeks ago we had a cat come in our front door and make our home his home. I kept putting him back outside but the girls kept letting him in. Hayden kept telling me he is "Friendly". I came home during lunch and Cody was sitting with the cat on his lap. Even though I didn't want another cat I think we now have one.

Since he was staying we had to come up with a name for him. Hannah and I decided on "Smokey". He is a very loving and pretty cat.

Last challenge is a picture of someone you miss. This woman was one of the sweetest people on Earth. She would do anything for you. I miss her so much. She was my "Grams". There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her. When she passed away I was very angry. She passed away on August 16, 2003. Exactly a week before my wedding. I was angry at God and very selfish. It was one of the biggest days of my life and she wasn't going to be there.

Even though she wasn't there in person I still felt her there. She taught me a lot. How to be strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I know where she is today and where I will someday see her again. She is up in Heaven with her Mom (my Great Grandma Salyers) and with our Lord, Jesus Christ. I love and miss you Grams!

It seems like I have tried everything to help in the potty training with Hayden. Nothing seems to work. We have tried gum, candy, sticker charts but she could care less. At the daycare she goes to they have a potty watch. You can set it for 30, 60 or 90 minutes. When the song plays it is time to go. They said she has done wonderful there so we are going to try it at home. Crossing my fingers that this works.

I was still living at home and my mom woke me up saying I needed to come and watch that history was in the making. By the time I got downstairs to the TV I saw the second plane hit. We, as America, will never forgot all the people who lost their lives that day.

Something that has made a huge impact on your life. When we found out that my father in law had stomach cancer I had to comfort my husband. We were afraid that he would beat it and how were we going to tell Hannah that Papa was sick. He is now in remission and we are thankful each and everyday that he is here with us. 1. I love being married. I have been married to my husband, Cody, for 7 1/2 years. This picture was taken on our wedding day.

2. I love being a mom to two happy and healthy girls.

3. I like to do any sorts of crafts. Scrapbooking is my favorite.

4. I love being outdoors. Camping, 4-wheeling, laying in the sun, etc.

5. I like to bake. When I have the time I do enjoy baking cookies. It is hard to find the time with our busy schedules.

6. I love to vacation. One of my favorite places is Disneyland. We are hoping to be able to take the girls to Walt Disney World in a few years.

7. I love where we live. It is such a great place to raise a family.

8. I love taking the girls on walks. It is really relaxing for me to take a walk in the summer evenings.

9. I like playing board games. When I was little we spent a lot of time playing games in the evenings.

10. I love to sit on the couch and curl up and watch a movie. What a great way to end a day.

On Friday we took the girls to see Gnomeo & Juliet. What a cute movie. The girls loved it. They were so impressed with all the lights in the theater. When we first walked in Hayden says, "Yum, Popcorn". You can't go to the movies without having popcorn. Cody ordered two drinks and large popcorn which came to $19.50. HOLY COW!!!! The girls keep asking when we can go watch another movie. Maybe this summer when Winnie the Pooh comes out.

Congrats to Stacy and Lyndon. Alden Stuart Haines was born January 7, 2011 a little after midnight. Alden weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and 19 inches long. Mom and baby are doing great. We are all so excited to get hold and love on him.

Yesterday was a very long day. I had been up all night with Hayden giving her meds trying to reduce her 102 degree fever. Nothing I did was working. I would give her something to drink and not even 30 seconds later she would puke it all back up. I was talking to my mom on the phone about what I could do to help her. I went to change her and noticed that she hadn't peed all night. My mom said to watch her. I laid her down to put her pajama pants back on and her eyes started rolling back in her head. My mom told me to take her in immediately. I rushed her over to the emergency room where they had to give her an IV. That was one of the hardest things I have had to do. Hold your baby as they are poking her and telling her it will be alright while the whole time she is crying for you. They staff at the hospital was wonderful with her. They had to take her to do a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia. After she was done they gave her a Popsicle. She loved it. Hannah even had one.

They wrapped her IV with a red bandage so she wouldn't have to look at it. It took up her whole hand.

She finally fell asleep which was good because she had such a long night.

Such a big bed for a such a little girl.

Finally around 2pm the doctor came in and said that she didn't have pneumonia or strep throat. The culprit was she had a terrible UTI. That was causing all of this. She had not complained about it hurting when she went to the bathroom. The only thing she complained about was her stomach hurting but I thought it was just the flu. I am so glad we took her in. By 2:30pm we were back home and all she wanted was to see her sister, Hannah.

She really scared us. We were so worried about her. We are so thankful that she is better.

In June we were lucky enough to go to the "Happiest Place on Earth". Cody and I went there on our honeymoon and I was so excited to go back. The girls were the perfect ages. Hayden loves Mickey Mouse but would not go up to him. We had to hold her to see every character.

The girls loved the Merry-Go-Round. Hayden cried when we had to get off.

We ate at the Big Thunder Ranch where the food came family style. Hannah and Johnny got to go up on stage and sing a song with them. YeeHaw!!

Johnny and Hannah had so much fun. They were able to ride most of the rides together.

What do two kids from Idaho do? They make silly faces while standing in line for a ride.

Hayden had a lot of fun also but she had to be with her Daddy and I most of the time.

Over memorial day we went to my parents house for a Bar-B-Que. Yummy!!! My mom went outside to see what Hannah, Hayden, Alexie and Emma were doing. In the email she sent she described it as "Just makes you proud of the Pistol Packing Grandkids".

On Friday a friend of ours, Sam, borrowed our 1987 Ford Ranger to go to Ontario. At about 5:00 pm I heard over the scanner that there was a head on collision. My heart stopped. My sister should be on her way home from work. It was the right time for her to be driving through there. I called her cell phone. NO ANSWER!! I tried again. NO ANSWER!! So I left a message. Called her house. NO ANSWER!! Left a message there. As I was hanging up the phone one of the sheriff deputies came across and said that it was one of their own in a brown Ford Ranger. OH MY GOSH, Sam!! When we met him at the hospital he told us that he crossed over the center line and over corrected and the car flipped and landed on the top. He had clipped another car but was ok. When I saw the pictures of the truck I could not believe that he walked away with barely a scratch.

I was lucky enough to get to attend a class for work in Las Vegas. My mom was able to go with me and we had fun. Of course we had to walk over to the MGM hotel to look at the cats. They were so cute.

That night we ate at the Rainforest Cafe. It is such a fun place to eat. The noise of all the animals and the thunder storm were great. Here is one of the fish that we say in the aquarium.

We went to "Menopause, The Musical". What a hoot!! At the end anyone who is going through or has been through the change went up on stage and danced with the actresses. My mom finally went up and she received a pin that says, "I've Changed".

My mom and I also went to The Tournament of Kings. It was a dinner show where you eat with no utensils. We had a blast. We were in the Dragon section so we had to root for the bad guy. Wasn't the best section but we had great seats in the front row.

Fun at the Park

We have been telling Hannah that when we go to Disneyland that we are going to be doing a ton of walking. Since it was a nice day on Thursday we decided to take a walk to the park. We told Hannah that she would have to walk the whole way there because we were going to practice to get ready for our trip. She did AWESOME!! She did not complain once. Both girls had so much fun on all the play equipment but I think their favorite was the swings.

On Friday, April 9th, Hannah's preschool class went on a tour of Pioneer School. It is really neat that Hannah will be going to the same school that I went to.

The first stop we went to was Mrs. Williams Kindergarten classroom. They were getting ready to read a story so they invited Hannah's class to come and sit with them. Hannah knew one of the girls from her dance class and so she invited Hannah to come and sit with her. (Sorry if the pictures are blurry. I took them off my cell phone.)

After the story they got to go and draw a picture of spring with them.

She is so excited to go to Kindergarten. I can't believe that she is already old enough. Time flies by but it has been fun.

My baby turned 5 on March 31st. We had a small birthday with a few friends. I made a pink ladybug cake because I couldn't get the frosting red. Hannah still loved it.

Every year my mom makes the girls their Easter dresses. Each year they get better and better. My girls loved how they could twirl and the dress would fly up. This year she made 4 altogether. Two for our girls and two for my nieces. They are all so pretty.

Disneyland Here We Come!!!!

In June we are going to take the girls to Disneyland. I am so excited to see the girls face when they get to meet Mickey Mouse. Hannah and I have a calendar that we are counting down the days. We are going to drive which is going to be an adventure. Two adults from a town of 5,000 to driving in California with millions of people. Watch Out!!!!!

My parents are also going and so we will meet them at Disneyland. Johnny and Hannah will have so much fun riding the rides together. Now I get to start planning on where to eat and what we will be doing each day. Oh my, I sound like my mother. We used to make jokes about how she would make an itinerary and now I am doing it myself. It is going to be a blast.

What a great weekend!!! On Saturday we went to my in-laws and made family cookies. They are the best. You deep fry them. I know sounds gross but are they good. Hannah and Hayden helped Daddy make sugar cookies and they even put sprinkles on them. They were full on flour by the end. On Sunday we decorated gingerbread houses at my parents. The kids had so much fun. I don't know who had more candy, the kids or the houses. They all turned out great. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.

On Thursday, December 11th we took the girls to the Boise Towne Square Mall to see Santa. We were not sure how Hayden would act because this was the first time she had sat on his lap. This year Hannah is in pre-school and looooves it. She is always coming home to tell us what she has learned that day. Hannah went to pre-pre-school last year which was good for her. Since October Cody has been at the Idaho P.O.S.T Academy in Meridian. It was a loooooong 10 weeks. He was only about an hour away but he had to stay their during the week and was only able to see him on the weekends. On December 11th he finally graduated. We are so glad to have him home. Now we get to start a new chapter in our lives.

In October we asked my sister, Stacy, if she would take our family pictures this year. Money is tight and so we were not able to go to Kiddie Kandids and have them done. She did a wonderful job I don't think we will have anyone else take our pictures.

I just can't believe how big our girls are getting. They are growing up so fast. Hayden will be 2 in 12 days. Hannah is enjoying preschool and is doing great.

I haven't written in a while. It has been very busy at the Samson household. Cody is enjoying the academy so he is gone all week, comes home Friday evening and has to go back Sunday afternoon. It has been really hard on the girls because they can't talk or see their dad any time they want.

On October 2nd we had to put our dog Zoe down. Her hip was giving out and so Cody took her in. It was hard because we have had her for over 6 years. She was our first baby.

They opened her in Weiser the Weiser Community Pond. We went to the grand opening and had a ton of fun. The whole family was there and Hannah had fun fishing. Papa Stuart was there to help hook the worms because mommy was not going to do that for her.

On Wednesday Cody started his new job as an Adams County Sheriffs Deputy. He loves it. He came home on Saturday and had to tell me everything that happened. He was on cloud nine. It was nice to see him finally enjoying his job. On October 4th he has to head to the POST academy in Meridian where he will be for the next 10 weeks. He will be able to come home for the weekends so that is a plus. His graduation is on December 11th so I will keep you updated on how is progress is going.

My father-in-law has had two rounds of his chemo and is doing very well. He is still really upbeat and has a very positive attitude. He has been losing his hair and it doesn't seem to be bothering him. Thank you for all your prayers.

Congrats to My Man!!!

Cody is now a Adams County Patrol Deputy. He starts in Adams County on September 23. He also has to attend the POST Academy in Meridian October 5th-December 11th. (I hope these are the right dates) It is going to be very lonely at our house for a few months but we will manage.

The exciting news for me is that we don't have to move. Cody will just have to find a place to stay for the days that he has to work but I know that the Lord will help us through this new transition. Please keep us in your prayers that everything will fall into place for us.

Thank you for all yuor prayers. My father-in-law fround out yesterday that he has Defused Large-Cell B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, High Grade. He starts Chemo on September 8th so please kee both of my in-laws in your prayers. It is going to be a long road ahead.

This past weekend we were able to go up to Lost Lake and spend the weekend camping. It was so cold that we didn't get to do as much as we wanted to. On Sunday the sun came out and so we decided to go on a 4-wheeler ride before we headed home. We started up a trail and Cody saw a HUGE buck. Cody thought it was a 4 point. Something he would like to find while they are hunting. It was really neat. Hannah was so excited that she was able to see a deer. On our way back to camp and bear ran across the road. I can not believe how fast they can run for how big they are. We are heading out tonight for another camping trip. Cody, the girls and I are spending the weekend at Lost Lake again for our anniversary. 6 whole years. I will have to post some pictures of our wedding day and camping.

What is the saying "When it rains, it pours". Well that is how it has been for my in-laws. About a month ago my mother-in-law, Jodi, lost her job at Walmart Vision Center. She loved what she did but in a way it was good because she was getting very stressed. She has been searching for a job and has found nothing.

A few months ago my father in law, Dwaine, started having stomach problems. They ran tests and he received a call on Wednesday telling him that he has stomach cancer. He will go in next week to find out all the options that he can do.

I have been praying that god will answer our prayers and help Jodi in her job search and Dwaine find the treatment that will get rid or shrink the cancer. Please say a little prayer for both of them.

On July 25th my sister Stacy married Lyndon Haines. We are so glad to have him in our family. They make the cutest couple and her treats her wonderful. Stacy had asked my to be one of her matron of honors and for Hannah and Hayden to be 2 of her 4 flower girls. Hannah was so excited. She wanted to wear and dress and crown just like Cinderella. My sister wanted a simple wedding and so my mom made the bridesmaids dresses and the flower girls dresses. They were beautiful dresses. Way to go mom!!!

We had to wait in the reception area until the wedding started. Stacy was getting so hot and all the girls wanted to do was talk to her.

Hannah's 1st Swimming Lessons

This was Hannah's first year in swimming lessons and she loved them. The difference from before is amazing. She was so afraid of getting water in her face and now she doesn't care.

The last day of class they let the kids jump off the diving board. Most of the kids would get to the edge of the board, sit and then scoot off. Hannah on the other hand walked right to the end and jumped off.

This year Weiser had a 4th of July parade and a fire hose competition. The girls this year were really festive.

Fire Hose Competition

For the last few years the city fire department has held a fire hose competition on the Saturday of Fiddle Week. Last year Cody and Jeremy participated in it and came in first place. This was also my brother-in-law's first fire hose competition.

Fiddle Week Parade

Scary Rides

Hannah wants to be just like her Uncle Johnny and ride any ride he does. She rode the swings by herself which made mom very nervous. The first time she went on them I could barely breath. My sister Stacy kept yelling to wave which meant she had to let go which was even worse for me to look at. She went on it about 3 more times after that and loved it.

Another ride that she liked but had to have an adult go with her was the Tornado. Aunt Sarah took Hannah, Alexie and Johnny on it. She loved spinning around in circles while going high in the air. Nice smile Sarah!!

That last big ride that the kids were able to go on by themselves was called the Ali Baba. Daddy took Hannah, Alexie and Johnny on it the first time but after that we couldn't get them off of it.

This was Hannah's first year in dance and she was really excited to get to go up on the stage and dance infront of a crowd. Hayden is still to little to be in dance but she had fun playing while we waited and watched. She has a smile that makes her whole face light up. I just can't get enough of her.
